Women in Recreational Fishing Network

Fisheries Qld has established a Women in Recreational Fishing Network Queensland.

The online community on Facebook aims to encourage women to participate in recreational fishing in Queensland and invites those of all skill levels to get involved and share their knowledge and passion for fishing.

The group aims to be a safe space for women who like to wet a line or want to learn more about fishing and will keep members updated on upcoming events, workshops and other important fishing-related information in the queensland.

It’s a place where women can find practical fishing tips, share and browse photos of awesome catches, and take advantage of leadership opportunities and events for women in fishing.

Although the group is primarily for women living in Queensland, we would love for you to join the discussion if you are also from another part of the world.

In recent years, the number of fishing licenses sold to women has steadily increased, showing an increased interest in the sport, and for good reason. Not only can the activity have real physical and psychological benefits, but companies and organizations are also making it easier for women to fish by providing educational opportunities and gear specific to women that were unavailable in the past.

The role women play in fisheries around the world is receiving increasing international attention, yet women’s contributions to fisheries catches are often overlooked by society, industry and policy makers.

There’s no better time than the present for women to join their male counterparts on the water, shore or shore.
