West Ranch High School and Castaic High School Receive Student Television Network Awards
In an annual contest where high school film students race against the clock to create quick TV stories, West Ranch High School and Castaic High School won seven prizes for the William S. Hart Union High School District during the fall .
According to Student Network Television officials, the Student Network Television Challenge is a national high school competition held each October, offering students the opportunity to put their skills to the test by completing a project from start to finish using of invites per category.
Hart District trustees last week honored student filmmakers, who won a total of seven awards, at Hart District’s regular council meeting on Wednesday, about three months after students raced against time. in their categories.
“The Student Television Network awards were recently announced on Tuesday and two of our schools received very high honors,” said Governing Board member James Webb. “The first is West Ranch High School followed by Castaic High School. I wanted to recognize all the work our children have done and our wonderful teachers and video production sponsors.

West Ranch High School released the names of its honored filmmakers via last week’s weekly newsletter sent to student families.
“During the fall, the Student Television Network hosted national video contests where schools from across the United States competed against each other,” reads the email from West Ranch director Mark Crawford. “This year West Ranch TV students won five different awards!”

1st place – Silent film
Avery Van Harte, Kaitlin Mendoza, Caitlyn Yang, Siddharth Sudan
2nd place – Commercial
Effie Gross, Taylor Lankford, Carol Wahba
3rd place – Short film – Homecoming

Winning three awards for Castaic High School, student filmmakers took first place in the TV commercials category, second in the movie trailers category, and second in the personal blogs category, according to Student officials. TelevisionNetwork.
