The CW Television Network cancels Legacies after four seasons

The legacies have officially canceled after four seasons on The CW Network. Set at the Salvatore Boarding School in Mystic Falls, Hope Mikaelson, Lizzie Saltzman and Josie Saltzman directed the third installment of The Vampire Diaries Universe alongside the Super Squad.

During its four-year run, Legacy faced several monsters of the week, led by its general antagonist, Malivore. However, the fourth season took a drastically different turn. While the monsters still appeared, Hope played an antagonistic role after triggering her vampire side and cutting off her humanity soon after. But, she wasn’t the only villain to grace the fourth season. The gods also played a role as adversaries to the Super Squad throughout the final season.

But, as disappointing as losing Legacy, this cancellation is not just the conclusion of a show. It also concludes The Vampire Diaries universe.

Throughout the trilogy of shows, audiences have been introduced to many supernatural creatures, be they vampires, werewolves, witches, originals, hybrids, doppelgangers, heretics, mermaids, the Hollow or the first Tribrid in the world.

When The Vampire Diaries First portrayed in 2009, the supernatural world launched a phenomenon in its own show and the two spinoffs that followed. Thirteen years later The Vampire Diaries made a name for himself, the universe he brought with him is coming to an end.

This universe is filled with history, and attachments to previous characters are constant among the latest spinoffs. Fortunately, throughout Legacyfans got to revisit past characters, including the Mikaelson family, Kai Parker, Jeremy Gilbert, Martel’s Aurora, and even a voiceover appearance from Caroline Forbes.

Hopefully, if the series is to end, Legacy wrapped up its final season with an ending that ends the Super Squad and the Vampire Diaries universe as a whole.
