Fishing in Monster Hunter World is a side activity and obviously optional. However, the game itself doesn’t give much advice on how to fish in the game. But fear not, because we’re here to help you fish in Monster Hunter World, where can you fish and more. in this guide.
Monster Hunter World Fishing
The game doesn’t explain much about side activities as there is a lot you can do in Monster Hunter World. Unlike other activities, fishing is very useful when it comes to research points.
Fishing seems to be very boring for some players, but it is very rewarding. To fish you will need a fishing rod which is already available for use in your inventory. You have to select the fishing rod by simply pressing R2 / RT in the water. Once the Reel option appears on the screen, press O / B to catch the fish.
To collect fish, you need to go to a nearby water pool. I would recommend going to âAncient Forestâ. There are plenty of fishing spots in the area near the southwest camp, which is a good place to start. Pool Researcher is also available and provides very rewarding Fishing Quest.
Why should you fish
In Monster Hunter World, by fishing you can complete Researcher Pool which is available in Ancient Forest. These quests will reward you with new recipes. Recipes are very important because they give a different kind of boost, which is very useful in boss fights. Fish loot provides different buffs which are very good and some can be crafted as well.
Research points can be earned by spinning fish. By pulling the fish, you can drop an object. The Commission Researcher will grant you Crit Bounties for Fish to unlock new items in Astera.
Researchers are present in the old growth forest but you must explore the area. You can find them at any time and start the quest by talking to them. The NPC will give you a task to complete.
The main task is to catch the fish. Fish can be found nearby or you may need to look around in different areas of the map. Once the task is completed, you must return it to the Astera Resource Center which will unlock a new ingredient in the Canteen.
Fishing and catching spots
As you explore the world of Monster Hunter, you will find different places where you will see different fish. There are different types of fish which are used to craft different items. By looking closely, you can identify the fish and its type after spending a few hours in the game. Here are some fish that are worth mentioning!
Goldfish is basically Cash Fish that you can sell for Zenny. This is not available in the starting areas but you progress deep in the main story, you will be able to fish them. Coral Highlands is the best place to grow them – look for a cave with a pond.
Goldfish are not easy to catch, so be sure to take your time with this fish. The most effective way is to use Baitbugs which will make it easy to catch. The fish sell for 1000 z, which is great.
Sushi is one of the most common fish you will come across. Compared to Goldenfish, Sushifish is very common and inexpensive. Taking Sushifish Scale to the canteen will reward you with three rations and two herbal medicines which are free and can cure poison sickness.
To sharpen your weapon much faster than the whetstone, you need to grow sharpening fish which is found almost where the deep water is. Ancient Forest will be the fastest and closest area to breed this fish. The glowing blue eyes are the indication that Whetfish is approaching.
